History

Recover Your Harvest was founded by Alisa Smedley, the child of a formerly incarcerated person
Alisa is very familiar with both re-entry and recovery. She has lived a life full of over-coming personal pain and tragedy associated with family dysfunction. Her father's 15-year prison sentence provided much insight into the effect of incarceration on the entire family.

The experience of growing up in poverty led Alisa to a strong belief in the power of entrepreneurship and self-determination.

Alisa is a motivational speaker, author, and mentor to would-be entrepreneurs.  In 2006 Alisa was named a Teacher of the Year by the National Foundation for Teaching Entrepreneurship (NFTE). In that same year she was recognized by Ford as the Ford Focus Life in Drive Award recipient.  In 2007 she was named a
Treumart Foundation Fellow through the Mandel Center of Case Western Reserve University (CWRU) for her work with youth at-risk.

At present Alisa operates a One Stop Career Center within the Montgomery County Correctional Facility in the greater Washington, DC area.  Alisa attended Howard University and CWRU.  Ms. Smedley is available for speaking engagements. Requests should be sent to:
